Periodic Programme Review (PPR)

The Periodic Programme Review Exercise (PPR) is part of a significant increase in administrative workloads. UMASA has repeatedly sustained that responsibilities and duties resulting from PPR or any such exercise must be incorporated as part of our collective agreement.

UMASA is gravely concerned that evaluation of tertiary education is reduced to econometric models. The University of Malta is a national university engaged in teaching and research, and a more holistic approach is needed to evaluate the role of academia in contemporary Maltese society.

As such any participation in the PPR exercise is a gesture of goodwill. UMASA is instructing its members that unless an agreement is reached with regards to such administrative tasks by the next collective agreement, UMASA will be directing its members not to comply with any requests connected to PPR or such a similar exercise.
